My life is like a pendulum, one day its fantastic & next day crappy, things change fast & I am aware. But this was not the test I expected at 8 am this morning after a 2 hr drive to St Michael’s hospital, Toronto.
I was hoping to find some answers today after I met with the neurologist and thought this would be more a discussion than running tests on me. Well no one gave me a heads up on what to expect.
A nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test, which helps identify nerve damage. This test was done only on my right arm as the left just couldn’t handle the touch of even the electrode patches. During this test, the nerve is stimulated to assess the ability of the motor neurons to send electrical signals. This was torture 😈as the electrical shock levels kept increasing till I could take no more.
Just when I thought I was done, a needle EMG test. My really bad left arm was not spared for this, 2 needles on each arm. The needles are poked thru the skin & are directly inserted into muscle tissue to evaluate muscle activity.
I have a high tolerance for pain, but damn this really hurt, I am quite sore from it.😔 As I kept praying please god give me strength to keep on going, my family walked into the room, my strength were standing right in front of me. 😚 The results will be sent to my neurosurgeon
Until then, its time to relax, rejuvenate & enjoy the rest of my summer
